Peterhof. The Fountains of the Lower Garden

The Peterhof Park has had a status of "a pearl of the Saint Petersburg outskirts" for almost ahundred years. 150 fountains and 4 cascades in the garden remind us of the luxurious residence ofKing Louis XIV and it is not a coincidence that the "informal" name of Peterhof is RussianVersailles or North Versailles. As for the residence of the Sun King, Peterhof guards the secretsand intrigues of the Russian Imperial Court. 
While walking through the park you learn how the Russian nobility had fun in the ostentatiouspark designed as the place of the infinite party. You will see the splendid perspective of the entirepark on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. You will be surprised by the number of the fountains withthe golden sculptures, the elegance of the Roman Fountains and the majestic Great Cascade withthe most impressive fountain of Samson tearing apart the jaws of the lion.
